Serving our patients

There is one more day in February for us to see patients.  So far this month, we have seen 461 different people at 660 different appointments.  [Obviously, we've seen some of those folks more than once!]

Good Samaritan Clinic is located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Our service area covers eight counties in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.  The estimated number of uninsured adults in this area between 18 and 64 is 42,155.  At this point, five-and-a-half years after starting, we’ve treated just over 8,000 of those people.

Who are these people?

The national rate of uninsured is 16%.  Unfortunately, in our service area, the rate is 20%.  The area’s 2008 median household income is $33,661, much lower than that of the U.S. ($45,379).  With 19% of area households having incomes under $15,000, many potential patients are forced to choose between going to the doctor and paying for food or utilities.
